He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. (Deuteronomy 8:3)
Provision - the act of providing.
Ask your child if she/he would like to lead the family's prayer time. If not, pray a simple prayer and ask them to recite The Lord's Prayer when you are finished. Be sure to tell them that prayer is talking to God and that they can talk to God anytime about anything.
10 Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. 12 But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, "Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity." 13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. (Luke 13:10-13)
God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (II Timothy 1:7)
A response to a disturbing experience.
Take a few minutes to watch and review the video about Jesus and the bent over woman
Ask the following questions:
How long had the woman been bent over?
Why were some of the leaders upset with Jesus?
What did Jesus say to them?
How did the witnesses feel about what Jesus had done?
Read Luke 13:10-13.
What is the Sabbath?
Why was Jesus in the synagogue?
What was the problem did the ruler of the synagogue had with God?
What is a hypocrite?
Put yourself in Jesus shoes. What would you have done?
Remember when you were younger and you tried to tie your shoes? Sometimes the shoelaces would get into a knot. When that happened, you probably gave your shoes to your parents to help get the knot out because they had the power and ability to do what you could not do. When our lives are bent in ways that we cannot handle, we can always give them to Jesus and let Him help us.
What do you think life was like for the woman who could not look up for 18 years?
How did what Jesus did affect this woman's life?
What are some things that you can give to Jesus?
Ask your children to repeat this prayer -
God thank You for always giving us what we need. Sometimes we are affected by what happens to us in life. Help us to remember that You will always be there for us to get us through it.
