What was last week's verse to remember?

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness [I John 1:9]

What was last week's BIG word?

HOLINESS - The reflection of God's character in our thoughts, speech, and actions.

Ask your child if she/he would like to lead the family's prayer time. If not, pray a simple prayer and ask them to recite The Lord's Prayer when you are finished. Be sure to tell them that prayer is talking to God and that they can talk to God anytime about anything.

This Week's Verse to Remember

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. [Psalm 51:10]

This Week's BIG Word - "CONSECRATION"

To set oneself apart from the world and devote oneself completely to God.

REVIEW

Take a few minutes to watch and review the video about David's prayer for forgiveness.

for the elementary Schoolers

Ask the following questions:

What was today's sermon about?

What is a pure heart?

How can God make our hearts clean or pure?

What did David ask God for when he realized he was wrong?

God makes all things new. What has He made new in your life?

FOR Middle Schoolers

Read Matthew 15:1-11 & 18-20 with your children.

What does it mean to "defile"?

In his response, what did Jesus call the scribes and Pharisees?

This week we can all work on cleaning the outside by washing hands frequently, but what’s one thing we can do to clean up the inside?

FOR THE HIGH SCHOOLERS

image177

Read Matthew 15:18-20

Examine the trash can in the picture. Is there anything here that you would eat? Of course not. Because it's garbage. Even if this can was filled with your favorite foods, you probably still would not want to eat it because it is in a trash can. And as long as you fill a trash can with trash, everything in it will be trash.

How do you think our minds are like a can?

What can you put in your mind to help keep it clean?

How can God help you clear out the garbage and fill your mind with good thin

HYMN OF THE MONTH - "OH HOW I LOVE JESUS"

CLOSING PRAYER

Ask your children to repeat this prayer -
God thank You for creating us in Your image and likeness. Sometimes we don't live up to Your image. Please forgive us and help us to walk with You all the days of our lives and to enjoy Your presence every step of the way. AMEN.
